Sources of Data

Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA)
This link will bring users to the general NISRA website. NISRA is the principal source of official statistics and social research on Northern Ireland´s population and socio-economic conditions.

NISRA Equality Website
This link will bring users to NISRA´s specific Equality Website. This website has been designed to collate and disseminate statistics and research relevant to equality of opportunity and its promotion within the Northern Ireland public sector.

Northern Ireland Neighbourhood Information Service (NINIS)
This link will bring users to NISRA´s specific Northern Ireland Neighbourhood Information Service website (NINIS). NINIS provides free access to statistical and locational information relating to small areas across Northern Ireland. Information is available across a range of themes including Population, Social and Welfare, Agriculture, Education and Crime. NINIS also have a detailed data catalogue which also users to search for data by theme or use the search box. This catalogue can be accessed here: NINIS Data Catologue

Central Survey Unit, NISRA
This link will bring users to NISRA´s Central Survey Unit (CSU). CSU manages the Northern Ireland fieldwork on a number of regular national and European surveys such as the Labour Force Survey, the National Food Survey, the Family Expenditure Survey and the Expenditure & Food Survey. The Unit also conducts a number of Northern Ireland specific surveys and conducts large-scale commissioned surveys for Departments and non-Departmental bodies.

ARK
This link will bring users to the ARK homepage. ARK provides a variety of different kinds of social and political information including background facts and figures, survey results, research reports, research summaries, audio-visual material and election results. ARK runs a suite of annual surveys that aim to provide time-series attitudinal data across age groups to inform policy development. These are as follows: Northern Ireland Life and Times Survey, the Young Life and Times Survey, and the Kids´ Life and Times Survey. Ark also work in partnership with other organisations to facilitate access to other independent and government surveys such as the Northern Ireland Household Panel Survey and the Surveys On Line service.

Central Statistics Office - Republic of Ireland
This link will bring users to the Central Statistics Office (CSO) homepage. The CSO undertakes the collection, compilation, extraction and dissemination of statistical information in the Republic of Ireland. It is also responsible for co-ordinating official statistics of other public authorities and for developing the statistical potential of administrative records.

Office for National Statistics
This link will bring users to the Office for National Statistics (ONS) homepage. The ONS produces independent statistical information on the UK´s economy and society. It offers expert help in finding, collecting and analysing data and runs more than 100 business and household surveys. These surveys look at all aspects of life in the UK - from business activities, employment and wage rates to family expenditure, housing and education. ONS-UK CENSUS
This link will bring users to the ONS´ Census site. The site contains census information for England and Wales.
